New launched FAQ of Runscape3

Chances are you've already spent some time with the NIS in the beta, but our awesomely customisable interface system is now live! Whether you're a die-hard fighter, a super-efficient skiller or a wide-eyed explorer of RuneScape's vistas, every element of the interface is now yours to snap-to, resize and rearrange as you please.
If you aren't sure where to start, press 'Escape' and choose from a range of presets, geared towards combat players, skillers, and those who simply prefer the look of an old-school interface.
How can I get back to the old interface?

  • The New Interface System has replaced what you’ve used previously but can be customised to be very similar. You can also choose from a number of presets from the options menu which mimic the old resizable and fixed window modes.

How do I open windows?

  • The new management interfaces (such as Hero, Adventurer etc) contain the windows you’re used to seeing such as the backpack or worn inventory. These can either be dragged out of the management interfaces or opened directly by mousing over a management interface icon and clicking on the relevant option.

Where is my friends list?

  • Mouseover or open the ‘Social’ interface and it can be found in there.

How do I logout?

  • To logout you can either click on the icon in the top right hand corner of the minimap or use the buttons on the options menu.

What can I customise?

  • The ability to resize and move windows and interfaces
  • You can dock, undock and move between many of the windows
  • Increase the size and change the shape of the minimap for easy navigation
  • Add transparency to windows to see more of the game world
  • Rotate and size the action bar to suit your needs
  • Narrow and thin windows down for increased screen space
  • Your customisations will be stored for the next time you login.
  • We also have an advanced user feature called ‘Edit Mode’ accessed from the ‘Escape’ menu whereby you can fully customise where extra elements such as minigame interfaces are placed.

How can I lock the interface layout?

  • Once you achieve a layout you’re happy with you can lock it (meaning that windows can’t be moved or closed) by clicking on the padlock on the top right of the menu bar. Should you wish to unlock it just click on the padlock again! This can also be done from the ‘Interface Settings’ screen within the options window.

How can I make the interfaces slimmer?

  • Many players like to narrow the interfaces down so the header bars are a lot thinner. This can be done by going to hitting the ‘Escape’ button, choosing ‘Interface Settings’ and ticking the ‘Slim Windows Skin’ option.

How can I split chat?

  • The chat channels are now tabbed and can be dragged out and redocked as you wish. We’ve seen some players dragging all the chat streams out as separate windows so they can keep multiple conversations going at once!

How do I keybind interfaces?

  • The New Interface System contains a much more sophisticated keybinding system than we’ve had previously. To access this hit ‘Escape’ and then choose ‘Controls’. Scroll down and you’ll see all your keybinding customisation options. The F keys are designated to opening up the management interfaces but the rest of the keyboard is open to use however you wish.

How do I change my settings?

  • There are two ways to access the settings. Either hit the ‘Escape’ key or click on the cog icon in the menu bar. There are separate settings screens for the Game, Interface, Graphics and Audio.

How do I change the transparency of windows?

  • In the ‘Interface Settings’ page on options menu there is a Transparency slider you can use for this. It works on the fly so you can easily see how it will look.

Can I save my layout?

  • Yes. In ‘Edit Mode’ and in the options menu there are two Custom Save buttons. Click on one of those to save your current interface. You can save up to two layouts for now.
